Dr. Hardin
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Joshua Hardin is joining our team in August 2021.
Joshua Hardin, M.D. specializes in incisional glaucoma surgery, laser procedures, glaucoma management, cataract surgery and medical management of ophthalmic conditions. He offers a broad range of services including glaucoma surgery, routine and complex cataract surgery, premium IOLs, Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGs), and laser procedures: SLT, LPI, YAG Capsulotomy.
Dr. Hardin completed his undergraduate education at the University of North Texas where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology, followed by medical school training at the University of Texas. He served his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas where he was voted resident of the year. For two years, Dr. Hardin was Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he cared for patients, taught residents and students, and participated in research and academic writing. Dr. Hardin went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the nationally recognized Johns Hopkins University, Wilmer Eye Institute. He has authored book chapters and published many papers in major peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals.

Dr. Kaplita
Dr. Jillian Kaplita is originally from Connecticut. She graduated from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, and she also completed a minor in music. She then attended Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University with a concentration in medical education. Dr. Kaplita completed ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University.
On top of her clinical and surgical duties during residency, Dr. Kaplita volunteered as the director of her program’s chapter of ReSpectacle, a non-profit organization that redistributes used eyeglasses to underserved communities. She was also selected as the wellness champion for her program/department. Additionally, during residency she volunteered as her program’s medical student education liaison.
In her free time, Dr. Kaplita enjoys figure skating, downhill and cross-country skiing, baking, DIY/craft projects, hiking, camping, singing, playing guitar, going to the beach, traveling, trying new ice cream shops, and collecting playing cards. She is so happy to be back in New England and is excited for everything that Vermont’s four seasons have to offer!
Dr. Shiple
Dr. David Shiple comes to Vermont from his position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester. Prior to his professorship, Dr. Shiple completed his undergraduate studies in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. While working as a structural engineer, Dr. Shiple realized that a career in medicine was his calling enrolling at the University of Vermont to complete his premedical studies. He earned his medical doctorate from The Ohio State College of Medicine where he graduated Cum Laude and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After completing his ophthalmology residency at the University of Virginia, he continued with fellowship training in cornea and external disease from the University of Rochester.
Dr. Shiple offers a broad range of services such as cataract surgery, diagnosis and management of glaucoma, laser procedures and comprehensive ophthalmology. As a cornea specialist, Dr. Shiple offers many corneal surgeries including endothelial and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty, penetrating keratoplasty, Boston keratoprosthesis, pterygium excision, conjunctival surgery, and collagen cross-linking.
Dr. Shiple is owner of Vermont Eye Surgery & Laser Center, and his ophthalmology practice is located in South Burlington Vermont.
Dr. Lane
Dr. Katherine Lane is a specialist in Oculofacial Plastic and Orbital Surgery. Dr. Lane completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University, and she received her medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.
Dr. Lane completed her ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, followed by a prestigious two-year fellowship approved by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Lane’s areas of expertise include: eyelid heath, function and beauty; tearing; thyroid eye disease; eyelid and orbital tumors; and eyelid and orbital trauma. Her extensive training also includes minimally invasive cosmetic and aesthetic procedures such as botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and chemical peels.
Dr. Lane is an owner of Vermont Eye Surgery & Laser Center and her Ophthalmology practice is located in South Burlington Vermont.
Dr. Keshava
Dr. Keshava graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University and received his M.D. degree at New York University School of Medicine. After completing his internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, he joined a 3-year residency program at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and served his final year there as Chief Resident. Dr. Keshava has undergone sub-specialty training in refractive surgery, including LASIK and PRK, at DelloRusso LaserVision in New York City. He now specializes in cataract and refractive surgery and has a particular interest in the implantation of advanced technology lenses. Dr. Keshava is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Vermont Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. McCormick
Dr. Gregory McCormick is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, corneal and laser refractive surgery at Ophthalmic Consultants of Vermont and Vermont Laser Vision at Timber Lane. Originally from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, he graduated from Harvard College and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed fellowship training in corneal and laser refractive surgery after completion of ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Eye Institute. Dr. McCormick typically performs more than a thousand eye surgeries every year. His expertise includes cataract surgery, LASIK, LASEK, phototherapeutic keratectomy, corneal surgery including penetrating and partial thickness corneal transplantation, corneal collagen crosslinking (KXL) and keratoprosthesis.
