If you are returning to The Eye Surgery Center for a second procedure within 90 days of your preoperative physical, you do not need to have another preoperative physical completed, unless you have had changes in your health and/or an Emergency Department visit.

Inform your surgeon’s office immediately if there are any changes in your health, such as a cold, fever, or respiratory issues.

Refrain from eating or drinking anything (including hard candy, throat lozenges and/or chewing gum) after the times provided
to you by our team.

Additionally, follow any specific instructions provided by your surgeon.

Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your surgery.

Notify your surgeon if you are taking any blood thinning medications or GLP-1 agonist medications.

It is crucial to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours following your surgery.

Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing

Please avoid jeans, leggings, dresses and turtlenecks.
Conscious sedation patients may wear personal clothing in the operating room.

You will be required to change into a surgical gown if you are having general anesthesia.

Please avoid wearing any jewelry (including body piercings), makeup, or cologne/perfume.
Do not bring any valuables.

Bring your driver’s license and insurance cards.

If your insurance requires a co-pay or you have an outstanding balance,

please bring a method of payment.

Contact lenses should not be worn.

You may take your routine morning medications with small sips of water prior to your scheduled arrival time for your procedure (unless otherwise instructed by your primary care provider).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

• If you take a weekly GLP-1, hold for one week prior to surgery
• If you take a daily GLP-1, hold for 24 hours prior to surgery

Failure to hold these GLP-1 medications will result in the cancellation of your surgery
